Has anyone out there seen this DVD tribute to Leonard Cohen?

I'm a big fan of Cohen, but these tribute things tend to leave me wonderin' why I even bothered...

Not here, Jeff. I've seen a few over the years and after seeing or hearing the "tribute" dvd's or cd's, I'm usually left thinking that imitation is really not the sincerest form of flattery despite the level of talent performing the tribute. They're not all that bad but most, to me, leave me wanting the original. I would take it this one left you feeling the same?

I've never been a fan of tributes. If I want to hear the song, I don't want to hear it from some band that came out on MTV last week and names the tributed band as their biggest influence. /rantoff

I say, read the box carefully for the names of the bands. If they're bands you like go for it.

My two cents.

Well said! I have the same impression of 99% of all remakes - WHY BOTHER!?! If you can't make good original music, don't try to redo someone else who actually made it big on their original stuff. Seems like there's not a single singer or movie director who hasn't done a remake of someone else's work...

...are all the good ideas gone?

I've got a Cohen tribute CD that is really good.
I need to go look for it and let you know the title.

The use of his work in the film "McCabe and Mrs. Miller" was fanatastic. His voice against the natural backdrop was amazing. Any film fans out there familiar with this?

The reason for the question was that I have not seen this "I'm Your Man"- Cohen Tribute DVD and was wonderin' whether it was any good... or is it like most others and completely forgettable.
