Has anyone bought the new Adamas Premier 1680?

Personally I hate the look of the sh*tlets and can't for the life of me undersatand how it could list for a grand more than a U681. BUT ... the overall ingredients (wideneck, 12 fret slothead) and right. Just curious if anyone has taken the plunge or if you think this one needs a plunger.

Don't own it, but have played it...I WISH I owned it!

Seriously, Dave, I know you won't like the epaulets in the solid walnut, but this baby SINGS!!!! By far the most incredible guitar I have ever played, bar none.

I haven't been able to play a Ute yet, so don't have a comparison, but in the annals of great Adamii, this one definitely deserves a place. If I only had $2500 laying around somewhere...

I had a chance to check it out at NAMM. Hard to avoid comparing it to the U681T.

Great guitar but not at the level of the U681T. And, IMHO the company underpriced the U681T. The 1680 is approximately a $1,000 more.

I will place my textured top 1688, 1685, or the U681T up against any CVT. If you can get a U681T, get it over the 1680.

Now, if the textured top U681T is not available:

Great guitar, this year's VIP, love the dark finish on the neck. Epaulets are something that are fine...would have liked to see a darker ebony color epaulet (in color or wood). Worth the money? Yep!

Curious as to how a 12-string version of the U681T will sound? Looks like we will know soon :D

Andrew, I have played it on two occasions and I do really like the sound. Looks are personal preference. To me it just seems mis-priced. or as Tony says, the U681 was such a bargin that we're all spoiled. For the SAME price I would choose the U681. For 1 grand less it's a redidulus bargin. Just wondering of any members have been able to justify investment in 1680, given the fact that in that price range there are some very nice wooden alternatives. Dave

Not sure, but after playing it alongside several higher-end Taylors and Martins, if I was to shell out the bucks for it, I'd take the 1680 over any of the other wood guitars I've played. I am surprised that they made two guitars so close in design and setup, with such vastly different prices. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and I'm sure it has to hurt the sales of the 1680 in the long run, at least with people who know.

Andrew, the U681T was a limited run. Guess they decided it was a great guitar :D

Wouldn't be appropriate to advertise a limited run and then start producing it.

Very true. Guess I just missed the boat not getting a U681 when they first released...
