Joined: March 2006 Posts: 25 | My new 1773 LX gives me troubles. If I play certain notes on the neck I hear a buzz. It does not happen when I removed the pre-amp from the guitar body. Any idea???? | ||

Joined: February 2005 Posts: 11840 Location: closely held secret | Pop the preamp out and you'll see a screwhead on each end of the can. Tighten them (don't use excessive force). | ||

Joined: March 2006 Posts: 25 | I didn't have much success tightening the 2 screws. The rattling varies when I tighten/untighten the screws but I can't get rid of the rattling completely. | ||

Joined: December 2003 Posts: 13987 Location: Upper Left USA | I have had to chase the "buzz" and have found it to be on the staploc washer/strap part occasionally. Inside wires as well. Try removing the preamp and see (listen) as well. | ||

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 14842 Location: NJ | On the pins where you put on the strap (iff applicable). As funny as it MAY sound, check all of the machine head hardware. Make sure that the tuning peg washers are snugged-down. Alot of times, errant vibrations/rattles can travel down the neck only to be amplified by the soundboard and make it APPEAR that the "buzz" is coming from inside the body . . . | ||

Joined: December 2003 Posts: 13987 Location: Upper Left USA | They are the washer/pin/washer/"C" ring assembly on the strap if you use the Straploc type. If not tight the washer can buzz. Very hard to isolate. | ||

I've fiddled with the preamp, removed it from its box, removed the battery, put it back in, put the preamp back into its box and the rattling noise disappeared completely. Still a mystery as far as I'm concerned but hey can't complain. Thanks everyone for the advices. | ||
