doesn't look like a "New Shape Deep Contour Ovation Body"; and probably comes with an 8158-0 instead of the 9158-0.

I think it is a 2 piece walnut neck like my 2080. That walnut is beautiful in appearance and touch in real life. I love it.

Isn't the 1680 the one Andrew said he played that blew his sock off?

1680 is deep bowl, not contour bowl. Nice guitar, basically newer version of U681. New top, neck, epaulets and electronics. Too bad about the shitlets. Dave

Tony, did they show the picture of the case that should have come with your #47? I saw this or another ad by brother bobby and read it carefully for any mention of the "original" hardshell case or factory reconditioning and couldn't find anything. If he shows a picture of the correct case, he should have to sell that case instead of substituting a cheaper one.
If you were lusting after a Ute and couldn't get one, the 1680 would be the way to go.

They use this picture on a number of their listings, then describe it as a "deluxe".

Gee, when it was in the listing for the 47RI, I thought they had created a new brown case just for the 47RI.

IMHO, this picture doesn't look like a black 8158-0.

Truth Teller - I can tell you as someone who has actually purchased a #47 from Al, that it came with the 9158-0 case. If the Kaman legal dept. would like to contact me... they can reach me here.

Glad I saw the original before it vanished.

It did raise an interesting question for me.

If I buy a new guitar from a dealer and then resell it, the warranty is gone.

If a dealer buys a guitar from another dealer and then resells it to me, is it considered new and I get full warranty or is it considered used without a warranty?

Should have just added this as an edit to the orginal post but anyway............

This reason I ask is because many years ago, I bought a new car from a good friend of mine who owns a dealership. Now he owns a Ford dealership but was able to locate an Olds Cutlass Supreme convertable that I was looking for when none of the local Oldsmobile dealers seemed able to find one. I was happy....plus he also sold it to me for quite a bit less than I had been quoted by the Olds dealers.

It was a bit latter when I discovered that because he had purchased it from another dealer and then sold it to me...it was considered "USED" and that I was actually the 2nd owner.

SO....would the same hold true with guitars?

Guess it is not that uncommon for a guitar retailer to transfer stock to another retailer...course, maybe some companies may have something in their contract. I would assume that they would both have to be authorized dealers.

The 30th Anniv CL had been with another authorized dealer, never sold, now Al is selling as new with full warranty.

By the way, I did discuss the case situation in an email to Rick Hall. BrotherBobbie told me over the phone that he orders ALL of his Ovations and Adamas guitars with the mid-range 8158-0 cases. Said he didn't have a 9158-0 case in the store.

Apropos of nothing (although I do enjoy reading the stuff you guys post), any time I've looked at one of their eBay auctions, I always wonder what the "Bro." in "Bro. Bobbie" refers to.

Tony, this case does look sort of brown, but I think it's the lighting on the pic that's reflecting that way.

I have played one of these 1680's - IMHO, the best of the best that I've ever seen (granted, I haven't touched the "holy grail" of the #47 yet). Definitely on the "must have" list, if you can come up with the chunky amount of cash.

It is a deep bowl, not contour, 12-fret, etc, etc. Plays like melted butter and out-booms any other high-end acoustic I could compare it to.

BTW, the BIN price on that auction is exactly what a local store here has one for, which is basically just at the MAP for this guitar. So, if someone gets this on a best offer for less, that could be a really good deal.
