Just what gos through people's minds when they goop up an Ovation in the quest to keep it from sliding off their lap? This one looks like some sort of epoxy was "installed". Other than that, it's a nice looking piece. I noticed it's been up before also.

That LOOKS like the original rubber "pad" that somebody went nuts with some glue . . .

My 1616 still has the pad too. I was the first owner and that definitely came on it.

I really didn't know they ever had a factory installed pad on them. The reason I brought this up is one of the earlier ones I bought had a glue residue on it that was all but impossible to remove. That one WAS an afterthought by some enterprising owner, and it looked terible. I guess I'll just shut up now......

My 1977 1614 still has the pad, which I assume is original. It is in perfect shape, as is the rest of the guitar. OK, almost perfect.

I had a 74 1114, and now have a 77 1115, and neither one has a pad of any type on it. Anybody know what year they stopped (or started)??

They probably BOTH had 'em at one time . . .

The thing WAS with those pads was that when they came off, they came off "cleanly" with little evidence that they were once there.

Oh Du-du! I got one of those "Slip-Grip" pads on mine. Does that mean that it will eventually turn-out badly?
By-the-way... I was watching that same guitar last time it was out. Reserve Not Met, and time ran out. I forget how much the last bid was, it didn't have a BIN then.
