Location: East Wenatchee, WA | I always liked Elixirs on my 1537, but I tried 1818's on my former Adamas W597, and liked them over the Elixir's. I have tried both on my 2080 and will be going back to the 1818's.
I guess it depends then. |

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | I experiment a great deal, but use C F M as a "test-bed " however, I am considering Elixir NW 13-56 for my 1537 ( currently " loaded " with Thomastik Bronze 13 - 57 )....the 1618 Glenn C has always been " loaded " with C F M 10 - 47 , yeah , I am Picky about " brands " bought some no - name strings over internet , they felt like sandpaper...sooh... :)

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | I go with free strings, and stay between custom light and mediums, any brand. So I'm easy to please.
I don't like the coated strings anymore, even when they're free. They don't sound lively to me; I used to think they were the bomb, but not anymore.
When I am forced to buy strings, I seem to stick with Daddarios or Dean Markleys, whichever of them is cheapest ... without coatings!
PS Old teleman, do you have any other teles besides the one posted in your gallery? There are a lot of tele fans here, too. |

Location: ranson,wva | i just dont like the feel of uncoated strings,altho i have tried the EXP's i didnt realy care for them,they arnt as smooth on the fingers as the elixers. just my opinion,ive also found the elixer's to have less of the squeek when i change chordes..jason |

Location: Warren,Pa. | I had used Elixers since they came out, though the high price always aggravated me. Last string change I got mad enough to make a change.
I ordered $45 worth of Earnie Ball Earthwoods from JustStrings.com. Several sets of med.Lts for the 6-string, couple sets of Lts for the Pacemaker, and some 9&10 singles to replace broken strings.
I'm surprised how content I am with these strings! How much $ I could have saved through the years. I don't think I'll go back.

I just put together a warmoth tele too! I brought it in for the first set-up, and I got lots of compliments. This weekend I'm going to play out, and pass it around. Next week I'll post pics and a review.
When I first used the coated strings I thought they were great because I didn't have to change for months, but they don't seem to have the sparkle even from the get go. It's a trade off, and in the long term it was more cost effective to get plain strings. |

These days, I only use 12 gauge, d'addario exp coated strings. Whether it be the 80/20 or phosphor bronze, I use it in all my guitars. |

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | Can not get adamas nor Ovation strings here , but have been considering Dean Markley "Blue Steel " and /or "Vintage Bronze " mainly `cause Melissa Etheridge uses them...though Elixir`s will be 1rst choice .....decisions..decisions.. :)

What "by the dozen" deal do you refer to. The guy I bought them from last time is still there (I got a 10 pack), but seems to be in his onsey-twosey stage of life with huge shipping. |

A) on my roundback 1117 Balladeer, I use either SIT-GL1048 (0.010"-0.048") "Silencers" (lead work) or D'Addario EFT15 "Flat-Tops" (rhythm work)...(0.010"-0.047")
B) on my EA68 Viper, I switched from the "factory installed" A'Addario EXPs to EFT16 "Flat-Tops" (0.012"-0.053").
...I've switched to "ground/flattop" strings to reduce the excessive finger-noise I get with round-wound strings...when playing chordal jazz, the "quiet passages" often 'ain't' otherwise. |

Location: Tucson, AZ | ...they're all acoustic strings. The SIT's are 80/20 bronze (slightly brighter sounding) while the EFT's are phosphor bronze (slightly mellower sounding).
...they're VERY easy to visually tell apart: the SIT's are GOLDEN-white in color and the EFT's are COPPER-penny in color.
...since they're SO sonicly distinct, I tend to "switch" brands depending upon what "work" I'm going be playing: brighter SIT's for LEAD playing...or...mellower EFT's for RHYTHM playing. |
