Just wanted to pass along that Moody's dog Charlie had to be put to sleep yesterday. I know what some of you thinking. It's a dog. And there are close friends here on this board fighting nasty diseases, young soldiers losing their lives in war, etc. But as far as I'm concerned, something that effects one of our members, effects all 5000 of us. So there you go. Here's the email I sent Paul ...

----------------
Hey Paul,

Sorry to hear about Charlie. That's pretty sad, and the fact that you knew it would come someday does not make it any easier. I met Charlie three times and I can tell you this, if you ever wanted to bang out a big old open E chord by thumping a tail against a guitars soundboard, nobody could do it better than Charlie. He's probably the only dog in heaven that knows every verse of "Gentle On My Mind"

After losing a large Golden Retriever (very similar to Charlie) - first from divorce, and then liver disease, I can relate.

Charlie & I spent a lot of time together when I stayed at the Moody's last Feb. He was definitely a close member of the family.
My condolences to the family & RestInPeace, Charlie . . .

One of the very hardest things I have EVER done was to make the decision- then to put down my dog Echo. 6 years later it still chokes me up.

Paul,
I know how hard it is to loose a friend who camps-out by your workdesk to keep you company. My condolences.

It's tough losing your best friend. I'm very sorry for your loss Paul. Even though I only met Charlie a few times, I could tell he was one of those truly great dogs. When I last saw Charlie a few weeks ago, I would not have guessed his time was short. My heart also goes out to Jerrie and especially the kids for whom Charlie was always a part of their lives.

Don't know Moody nor Charlie in private.
But I had to put my seven year old Labrador Retriever last December to sleep because of bone cancer, so I know what that means. You are losing a family member, that is always happy to see you, even if you are in a bad mood, that is always on your side, wether you are right or wrong and that always cheers you up. Hard to lose a friend like this.

Moody, I am sorry to hear and I feel with you!

Best regards,
Kurt

It's a tough loss for you and your family Paul. Sorry to hear it.
According to Dave's post it sounds like he was trying to teach you that fourth chord. Its funny how many dogs fit in but some exceptional ones really become part of the family.

Man, that's rough. When Sherman W. Peabody, our JRT, left we were both (the missus and I) pretty bummed for a time. Someone in the neighborhood has one with similar marking, and they occasionally take him to play in the field behind our house...sad. Sorry to hear about your loss, Paul.

Hey, Charlie had a roommate, so he's lost his best pal too. Paul, I hope Sage isn't taking it too bad.

Well said, master Templeman ...

Moody, my heart hurts for you. I had to put down my first dog (of 16 years) 10 years ago. Hardest decision I've ever had to make. Have another dog now who is even sweeter than the first one. She's starting to get old too - gotta go give her a hug ...

Sorry to hear about the loss. All of us with indoor family pets can relate. They are both family and friends, and perhaps more forgiving than either. We grieve when they pass.

Paul,
My deepest sympathies.Pearl's dog died just before we got married. Her dog was originally the reason we moved into the condo. They allow pets. Hope everyone in your family is okay.
