Location: ranson,wva | looked good untill lastnight when i was buffing the top and i moved the wrong way and the bad disc i got hit a nerve...i just droped to the floor,buffer hit the top,there's a 10in crack in the right side of the top now...i may beable to repair it but im not shure yet..i went to my doctor today and the onr thing ive been fearing ive got to get done...sugery..not fun at all....
i hope i can fix the top because ive allready don so much work to it and put in many hours that i just dont wanna pitch it...oh well....thanks for the compliments guys...jason |

Location: ranson,wva | that was right after i got the academy,it had lots of crud on it...and i was installing new abalone fretboard dodts and repainted the board black.....kinda hard to do with strings on it.....jason |

Location: ranson,wva | well things were going too good with the project..untill i moved the wrong way and my body went numb(pinched nerve in my back)..dropped a buffer on the top..
i filled it and reglued the braces but it looks like shit now....looks like ive got a canidate for a re top now......it wasnt a clean break and you can see the light colored spruce where the finish cracked..jason |

Location: ranson,wva | this top is sound,its just ugly as hell,ive got it strung with extra lights and it sounds fine...just this one aint gonna have much of a resale value..i might keep it for a "autograph book" to be sighned at gatherings and such...who knows...if it was a natural finish the crack wouldnt look near as bad..as for the lable its the foil label, it was buitl in '71...it sounds great....thats why i realy dont wanna retop....jason |

i havnt deceide what im gonna do with it yet..might keep it to take out when we go to the beach or out on the boat..jason |

Location: Alberta, Canada | Jason, I think you should keep that guitar and use it as a yardstick for your Luthier projects. I call that an "Appreciation Guitar". As you progress with your projects, pull this one down and compare where you're at and where you were at with this one. It will give you an appreciation of where you are improving. And 20 years down the road you still have a guitar for the beach or the "new player you're are showing how to play their first "D" or "G". And who knows, maybe someday you'll pull it down and bring it up to where you're at then. Guitars with history are "cool"!
