I just read the review artical on the Parker P8E . It looks like yet another maker is answering the need for an acoustic that can sound like and play like an electric. Like the Taylor T5 , the new Parker P8E also has strong roots in it's acoustic design, but these guitars are really meant to be played plugged in. Instead of just slapping a piezo bridge on an electric, they're trying to get a more natural acoustic sound first. The new "trick" seems to be able to go from smooth, clean acoustic, to a fairly aggressive lead-electric sound with the twist of a knob, or to blend more than one voicing together. Watch the vieos, you'll see what I mean.

There is a market here guys....

I agree. You couldn't give me either of them, but I sure wish I had a Viper with a humbucker in it. Maybe something in a flame maple, koa, or NWT top ;)

Fred, The Parker P8 is conceptually completely different to the Taylor T5. The T5 is intended to be a hybrid guitar that can produce convincing electric and acoustic sounds. The Parker is an acoustic guitar which blends magnetic and piezo pickups to produce an amplified acoustic sound. There are certain Parker Fly models which could be compared conceptualy to the T5, but the Parker acoustic guitars are not intended to be hybrids.

You might be interested in the C.P Thornton professional acoustic.
( www.cpthorntonguitars.com I think is the link)
He builds neck though semihollow bodies. On this one he offers an acoustic p/u, along with the Fralin unbuckers. Oh yeah, it sounds sweet. I can personally attest to!!! He is starting to gain a following, but still has only made about 60 guitars. At $3k, they are not cheap. But outside of the 1187 reissue, this is the best $3+k I have ever spent on a musical instrument.
And to me the viper ea -68 blurs the line of acoustic/electric anyway. just my $.002 peace mike

Cutting to the chase...How many T5's are being sold these days?

...and how many USA Vipers are being sold?

So, if I run my Balladeer through my Pastrami Overdrive, can I sound like that?

You know, I like the looks of that. I would be scared that the square edge would cut off my arm though, but other than that... I'd take it. I'd really like it to be a nylon though.

A Viper with a humbucker? Like THIS?

It may not be the Viper EA68, but I couldn't resist ;)

Moody's GFKAV is a Deacon necked Viper with Phat Cats - very chunky flavor!

Here's my approach on the subject:

String thru? Is that a self-done modification woody?

If so, that's what Ovation should have done in the first place, in my opinion.

Looks great, love the one pup config.

Thanks,
It is a bit heretical. I did the string thru and with the mahogany body and neck it is Sustain monster.
I have been running th Piezo side through the Acoustasonic Jr. and the Twin blade through a Fender 25R. On some blends it has a neat two guitars sound. The Piezo can be a bit quacky though.

I will most likely change the twin blade for a mini P90.

Wow! Nice guitars. I've been looking for a "jazz guitar" as my next purchase. I'll have to put these in the mix. I was looking at Harrison\'s GB. The Jazz Elite would be quite comparable and at a lower price.

Thanks for the link!
