Location: Earth·SolarSystem·LocalInterstellarCloud·Local Bub | Well, I gotta say, the "new" EchoTone is a complete hoot. I've never taken to an electric like I've taken to this one. A total bargin too. Can't say enough about it.
I am curious about the pick guard, however. This guitar is supposed to have a mounted PG, but does not, which makes me curious as to why it was removed?
This guitar has been modified from a stop bridge to a roller bridge with Bigsby trem...
Asthetics??
Playability??
Would the PG obstruct the Bigsby???

Location: Central Massachusetts | Jeff, I took the pick guard off of my Elcipse as well.. two reasons.. I like the look of it better without. I also found that I hit the pickguard a lot while strumming, and I'm usually pretty good about not doing that. Took the pick guard off and I haven't come anywhere near hitting the body with the pick.
You happy with the Bigsby? Been thinking about putting that same one on the Eclipse. |

I'm sorta fascinated by the Bigsby.
This is the first guitar I've ever REALLY played with a Bigsby Trem. It's a completely different thing than other trems... I've played other style trems and owned two guitars with a Floyd Rose trem. As an acoustic player, I am used to bending with my left hand and never much cared to use trems on lectricks... But this Bigsby is more subtle and less sensitive than other trem I've played. The flat-bar, swing-arm design also allows the trem to be easily employed with the forearm while the right hand is still on the strings. I'm not good at it yet but, I can see why folks would like it. I also think it adds to the sustain. Frickin' thing weighs a ton. Lotta mass. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Some LP's have a guard, some don't. Because of the arched-top, you most likely won't hit the body with your pick, unless you strum like a total manic.(I know I do) The pick-guard on an LP is usually held above the body with a brace, so I don't think that it would affect sound too much. |

Location: New York, NY | I have a 335 and think it looks much cooler with the pickguard on (unlike a les paul which i like sans guard)

The differences are; abalone inlays, hotter, potted, poleless pickups, mahogany two-piece neck joining body at the 18th fret(instead of maple), telecaster type control set-up with volume on the pickguard, and the pickguard itself is different. I just love the simple control setup.
