Wel Well Well, the 1984 Collector (redux edition) has arrived and I have to say aside from dead strings and what looks like "sneeze spray" all over the top (nasty but nothing some gentle cleaning won't solve) it is a beauty!!!

I was a little worried as the seller had shipped it in the case with just some Priority Mail tape spiraled around it. My wife was holding her breath as we spotted what looked like heat effects on the back of the case, but all is good.

Defintely has been back to the factory for a re-do as it is a genuine Optima preamp in there and a 1/4" and XLR in the back. I will get a note into John B and see if he can chase any provenance up on her factory visit. Serial #233 of 2,637

The finish all over is spotless. You'd swear this thing had just popped out the factory box. Once I get her cleaned up and some fresh strings on I will get some photo's up.

I have to say one of the best bargains I have ever had off "the bay". $471 inc S&H

I was trying for one on Ebay, but the guy is expecting $800 to $900. He pulled the listing when he wasn't getting any bids. Hopefully I can wait him out and get it for $500 to $600.

Can't wait to see the review and pics!

Correct...no box! This was one of those Ebay store folks that just sells your stuff for you no matter what it is.

In the meantime, no harm no foul. Have a look at this beauty. I am just annoyed they are not in natural light as the top is awesome. Will try to replace over the next few days and add to the gallery.

Stuart - very nice! The GAS meter is rising. I wish that guy on ebay would come down a bit. Are you going for an even numbers Collectors collection?

LOL...Well the 84,86 and 90 are to commemorate marriage and the two kids borth. Don't tell the wife but I couldn't resist the 1994 I saw the other day so it is heading my way too. I did sign a great deal with AIG that year, maybe that's a good excuse.

Maybe I will have to have an exception for the venerable '87 that so many here love?

Well... if you ever need to hide the 94, I'm right across the river :D

So I would have to get the 89 (marriage), 90, 92, 96 (kids). I could also go for 85 - college graduation, 2006 - MBA.

I need an excuse for the 84 - oh yeah... the year I SHOULD have graduated from college.

Considering that Bill's probably got the most reason t'be jaded about Ovations than anyone else here, . . that's a pretty good rave . . .

Well done Stuart; that's a great catch! This is a positive steal at the price you paid.

Seems from our respective tag lists that both of us are chasing/appreciating the same guitars! Good thing that TWO 84 Collectors showed up on eBay this last month :)
