I understand there is a book on Ovation that was published in 1996 and is now out of print, by Walter Carter.

It's available on abebooks and I'm wondering if I should track a used copy down either there or ebay.

Any news of a forthcoming reprint that someone here may have heard?

be careful of buying new copies on ebay or amazon. first confirm they actually have a copy.

I got mine in new condition off Amazon for about 9 bucks. That was about 5 years ago, but I'm sure they're still out there. I also still have my original Ovation sales flyer that I picked up in the guitar store in the eighties. It was what started my covetiousness for Ovation Guitars.

The club has two Books that travel around. You should be able to get on the list for one of them while you wait for your own.

They do show up on Ebay. The soft covers should be continually available from Hal Leonard so keep checking.

Was looking for a copy a month or so ago. Couldn't find one online anywhere. Walked into a music store on Whyte Ave. in Edmonton and they had 3 copies, so grabbed one up. Great book...would like to see it updated though.

That's great. I mean no disrespect to anyone's beliefs here, but can someone tell me why Ovations are so popular with Christian music players & choir leaders?

Myself, religion's all the same at the wholesale level. It only differs at the retail level. So I get mine factory-direct.

Affordable, easy to play, tune, great electronics, durable with small children and volunteer stage help, the list goes on and on.

Actually, most Christian musicians that are big on the charts now are playing Taylors and McPhersons. The "in-church" players (those of us who aren't superstars) end up playing a lot of Ovations and Adamas, for all the obvious reasons and then some.

My old church had four people with O's that I knew of (including Woody and I), and the church I am playing with now is bereft of them, present company excluded. I'm trying to convert a couple Taylor guys right now...

I have to say, the 12-string helps!

Back on topic (sorry) I ordered a copy of the book (the Ovation one, not the Bible ;) ) through Amazon a week or two ago - supposed to be shipping any day, so we'll see. About $22 shipped I believe, hardback copy.

Reliability, value and they just plain work when you plug them in!

When it somes to rollers, nothing quite rolls like a roundback.

I love it. I might be wrong but I think its because of the plug and play of the Ovation, not a lot of messing around with EQ. Fits any church big or small.

I bought something on eBay about a year ago, likely a guitar, and the seller tossed in a hardback version of the book for nothing. It appeared to have been opened maybe twice to the first few pages only. Bill signed and dated it 9/96.

That's got to be worth more than the 22.00 Amazon.com is selling their copies for. There's a copy signed by Charlie that they have priced at $275.00 right now.
