I recently got hold of a late '80s Custom Legend 1869 and need to replace the pre-amp battery. Can't find any info on that on the 'Net. Would appreciate if anyone could post a how-to. Thanks in advance.

Yes it does. The screw is more toward the neck from the preamp, which looks like a precursor to the OP24 in that it has the 3 equalization sliders, but a rotating knob for volume instead of a slider.

reach your hand inside the bowl, your hand will find the battery box, turn the screw to the left till the box comes loose from the bowl, slide the top of the case back, pop a new bat in,and repeat the above steps to put it back together..jason

The original OP-24 had that exact setup. Later models included all sliders, or built-in tuners.

Nice guitar - I've had two 1869's and they were both awesome.

Thanks. Yeah, it's become my favorite. The tone is awesomely balanced. Don't know if part of that is the age of the tonewood, or just the fact that the 1869 is one of their high-end designs. The inlay on this one is incredible, too. The whole guitar is a work of art.
