Anyone use these types of pedels to laid down a track that would add to a performance? Idea fasinates me but I have had no experience with it.

The last Templeman visited me, he was touting the features of a new Boss pedal that'd just come out, but I forget which model it was . . . . Temp?? . . .

This is Kaki King's pedal board from 2004/2005
Note the looper.

It's a Boss RC20XL. It was great. I've seen that Boss makes a smaller unit, which might fit your kit. What I do sometimes, is tape a rhythym track on a casette player, and then play lead on play back. This looper is 10 times better. (Let me add, I only use the casette player in my home and don't own the Boss RC20)

Cliff, it was the Loop Station I was talking about. I have one on loan at the moment. Very cool tool, but it's easy to create a trainwreck if your concentration slips. The new Digitech JamMan is pretty similar

So then, it's pretty much like everything ELSE in Life . . .

I used to have the Boss RC-20 which I sold. I now have the smaller new model Boss Looper which I have just started to play with. I use them mainly for practicing leads and riffs. It occurred to me that they could certainly add another dimension to a live performance, but as Temp aluded to, you better be spot on or it could be a disaster.

I know that some really good players use these live and build and build. Saw Phil Keaggy do that live and it was amazing. But what I was thinking was using it to lay down, say a simple rhythm track that I could store and use when I do a live special at church. I only do one song so am I right in assuming I can lay down tracks and store them for a later performance?

I've got that Boss one. Kinda interesting. I also got the "Fulltone" box for electric sliding. Saw that Sonny had one and had to get it, also recommended by Goeff Hartwell, slidist extrordiniare.

I bought the Boss RX20XL after seeing the video of Kaki at the LA Art Museum. I've had it about a month or two and can't stop playing with it. I've been asked to play some background music at an art gallery grand opening and intend to use it in a live instrumental-only session.

I have the digital echoplex by oberheim (gibson)and the Fulltone (TTE) unit. Different enough to justify both toys ;) .

I always felt the Roland Space Echo was one of the best units made. 201's and 301's are still somewhat easy to find in good shape.

Hard to beat the sound of true tape vs digital.

I can't say for acoustic, but for an electric, I can't tell the difference between live and recorded on the Boss RC-20. I guess you could tell in a studio, but I've never seen it used there.
