I want to thank the OFC. Along the way in building this guitar, I asked the OFC for suggestions, such as finishes, and pickups and tuners and felt on the end pins etc. And I want to tell you it came out great! I posted other pics in my gallery.
Thanks again! This place really is a great resource with really good people.

Looks nice, except for that ugly white smudge on the peg head. ;)

I think it says "Makita". Only it needs to be painted green.
:D

Actually, a very nice looking guitar. Good Job!

Was that a Warmoth body/neck? Looks sharp...great job.

Have you seen the Buckocaster's posts on the TDPRI for 'built-your-own-tele?' Very in depth and a wealth of good information.

Rick - very nice! How did you find working with the Tru-oil??

The neck and body are from warmoth's bargain bin. It's a short scale tilt back headstock strat neck.

Tru-oil is easy to work with. It's great for close grained woods like maple. No fumes in the house. Should have 12 hours between coats. The trick is to rub a small amount on with your finger. Let it rest a minute. Then wipe it off with a soft paper towel like bounty. It repairs easily, just sand a little and then wipe on more. It's not an instaneous finish like a spray on poly, but more forgiving.

Looks like a thin-line without the f-hole. Pretty!

Basically, that's what it is. It's a semi hollow body. It doesn't have the classic thin-line hollowing, it's the warmoth style. It resonates very nicely and has no feedback problems.

Having done this project, do you foresee more DIY guitars in your future?

I'd love to: I see a tele delux configuration, mahogany body, maple neck, pau ferro fret board, jumbo steel frets, spliting the humbuckers, and a four way switch. Only problem is a friend of mine just gave me a Korg x2 keyboard. I have to decide what do to do with it first ... sell it for more guitar stuff or actually sit down and get serious about electronic keyboards. I wish all my problems were this bad.
