So I noticed Hillwalker's comment that he was a (ex) nurse and I am an (ex) RMN (Psych nurse from the UK). I seem to recall others mentioning their Health Professional status. Shout out if you are a healthcare professional.

I've taken a huge amount of Class A drugs in the last 18 months. And I helped my oncologist pick out a piano.
And I lent Temp's girlfriend the nurses outfit. (Frankly, I looked better - the blue suits my eyes).

That explains those curious stains. Not to mention the faint smell of badger.

I shouldn't admit that my wife's a nurse in front of this crowd. My dad's a retired hospital administrator who asked once why I didn't want to go to med school. I told him I heard him cuss doctors his whole life. He probably cusses lawyers too.

I'm the UNIX Administrator for the regional med conglomerate here. Does that count? If not, I have a t-shirt that says, "I'm not a gynecologist, but I'm willing to take a look."

i went to cna (certified nursing assistant) training as a junior in high school. worked as the only orderly in the hospital performing male and female catheterizations and pre-surgical shave preps. seems they always sent me to apply the bullet shaped wax things when ordered also! i then joined the us army and was sent to 91 bravo (basic medical specialist) training in san antonio, texas. they then shipped me to the presidio (letterman army medical center) in san francisco for 91 charlie school (equivalent to licensed practical nurse). i dropped out after getting hooked on quaaludes and meeting a girl who was in the class ahead of mine who was also from hawaii. went home to serve my country as a medic in the us army reserve for six years. hired at hawaii state hospital as a paramedical assistant III assigned to the criminal intensive supervision unit (it was intense!) became an on-call surgical/recovery attendant for several years. got out of healthcare to become a salesman for a food brokerage company in 1981, i think.

I'm a special education teacher for individuals with special needs. Besides addressing the students' educational concerns, I too have to deal with their health issues and impairments. Does that count?

With the exception of the blind and hearing impaired, I pretty much taught them all. I had my early experiences with individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Today, the students that I provide my services to have diverse needs, which includes dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, MR, speech and language delays, learning disorders, behavior and emotional disorders, and most recently autism (ASD), Down Syndrome, and multiple disabilities.

BTW, my wife is an RN in a PACU unit. I've never been to the unit where she works, but all I know is that it's where patients recover from their surgery(ies) and/or operation(s).

I guess that leaves me. MD of the Family Practice variety. Run an urgent care center in Ft. Worth, TX.

So when people call me a quack, I'm never sure if they are talking about my guitar playing or my profession...

Hmmm as I thought and as you find in life, lots of folks involved directly or indirectly in healthcare. Glad I was fortunate enough to choose to become involved in an industry sector that continues to grow as I get older :-)
