Got the Bandmaster head back two weeks ago and have been playing it constantly ever since. The amp tech replaced a number of secondary tubes, condensers, capacitors, and or/other small orange cylindrical tubes that begin with the letter "c" with wires sticking out the ends, all of which now reside in a zip log bag in my basement. He said hang onto them because they’re still good (just barely) and are original to the unit (1966). He also said the former set-up was way out of spec and that in his 30 years of repairing amps, the best performance out of any original Fender blackface is obtained only by duplicating the specs originally established by Leo himself. How’s it sound? Great, but I don't know that I can tell any difference from how it sounded before crapping out on me last month before the repairs. Better news? He said it will now outlive me.

Oh yeah! As the proud owner of a 69 Deluxe Reverb, and a 73 Pro Reverb - both having been blackfaced, and re-capped, those amps will outlast us, our children, our grandchildren, and possibly THEIR children!

I've been through a lot of 'em too. I've stuck with these two pieces, and I'm NOT letting them go! Sound KILLER with my Telecaster!

Deluxe reverb and a tele. Heaven.
Never played through a Bandmaster - what did Keef play way back when? Were they Bandmasters or Showmasters?

I've been taking a look at the 65 Dulux Reverb (22 watts RMS) and the 65 Twin Reverb (85 watts RMS).

I would use either of these with my Telecaster or Stratocaster and maybe my 1778LX and Martin D28.

I am favoring the 65 Dulux Reverb, but I am worried it will not be loud enough at a gig with the 5 other band members. At present, I use a 65 watt transistorised Fender Princetown.

Does anyone gig either of these amps and are they suitable for accoustic and solid guitars.

Besides the Banmaster and others, I also have one of each, the Deluxe Reverb and the Twin Reverb. Both are excellent, but the Twin is just a lot of amp. It is great for outdoors and really noisy areas. The Deluxe works for almost every venue I ever require, including most of the outdoor stuff. The sound quality and tone, to my ears, is pretty much the same. The Deluxe is much easier to cart around. Just IMHO.

Not sure of the exact translation but 22 watts tube is probably at least as loud as 65 watts solid state.

I would pick the Deluxe Reverb hands down between those two. Just throw a mike on it if you nees a little more volume. The Twin Reverb is way too big for most applications. With the smaller amps you can get into the nice warm tone zone without taking the windows out.

I use a brown tube 1962 Princeton (18 watts, single 10" speaker) most of the time.

Thank you Proffessor,Stephan and Wayne, I'll take a closer look at the Dulux anf try one out. I agree, carting round heavy amps, does no one any good.
