Is it my imagination or does Johnny look particularly cocky here? Like, "Come on, mess with me!"

Did ANYBODY get a pic of Larry at the Ovation Party at the last WinterNAMM??

Bill came walking over to me and said "Hey Cliff! . . meet my friend Larry!" . . . and walked away.

We stood there drinking, joking & laughing for about twenty minutes before I realized who he was (he's a wee bit heavier, and has considerably less hair).

When he said that he came to make sure that "My Boy" (DiMeola) "does a good job", I realized "HolySh!t! . . this is Larry Coryell!!!"

He was an extremely nice, friendly guy!
(but then again, we were BOTH knee-deep in CocktailHour . . )

It's from 25 or more years ago. So yes I've seen it.
JM's face is just shaped that way. But musically he's the greatest guitar player on the planet, so maybe it made him look like that. Sitting next to Larry in that suit and at the height of his substance/alcohol abuse may have caused his nose to sneer upwards.
Among the many things that make that my all time favourite music video is that Larry is so obviously shitfaced, but he never misses a cue, a beat or a note. Now that's being a professional.

Yup, that's from 25 years ago. I saw the show at the Beacon theater in NYC with McLoughlin, DeLucia, DiMeola and Steve Morse as a special guest.

A "gnat-note" fest, for those who don't appreciate the un-ashamed display of velocity...

I thought ol' Larry looked more than slightly out of it.

I actually jammed along with this vid at about 7:00AM, while the kids were getting ready for school. I figured I'd take Larry's place and trade off with John, since Larry seemed to be half asleep anyhoo. The kids dug it. They're only used to me playing old time blues and boogie - never this coffee'd up flamenco from Mars stuff.

Notice how Paco just quietly and politely blows both John and Larry (and myself) right away!

Bring on the gnats!

I really dig the intro sequence where John is putting Larry and Paco through the paces on "Guardian Angel[s}": more than cool. BTW in Paul Stump's book "Go Ahead John" there is mention of two or three tunes that did not make it on this VHS/DVD "Meeting of the Spirits". Has anyone seen any of this extra stuff?
