Location: Greenville, SC | I have posted before regarding my Dads guitar which I am trying to find out about. I have e-mailed Kim Keller and she was helpful. According to her it is a custom built 1868 that Bil Kaman signed. It has a bear-claw spruce top and Adamas-style epaulets. The serial # (?) is 1868 X and the # 4/6 follows. I have posted pictures of the guitar on my web site www.foreversouthern.com. Can anone tell me if I have something special or is it just another nice guitar? Thanks |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Looks like you have a very nice custom built guitar. It's special. I have 12 special Ovations, but none are so special that they were originally my Dad's. I hope that my daughters will be able to say that their Ovations are special because they were their Dad's. |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | Back to the beauty under discussion... er, the guitar: I had one of those a few years ago along with a matched 1867-X. I was told there were six such sets made for giving to certain dealers or reps. I can't attest to it being true, but that's the story I remember.
I have a lot of stories like that from over the years, most in my younger days. I don't remember dressing up like Kim. The problem may be the times I CAN'T remember. |

Location: Greenville, SC | Thanks guys, it does have a simular resembalance to the guitar on e-bay. Mine is still in the case and if it has been played it dosn't look like it. I did remove the 9v battery just in case it leaked and lossened the string to keep the neck stright. I think the idea that it was made in or around 1992 may be correct. I do know that Dad bought it, I think new, around that time from a dealer in Gaffney, SC. Well if it is worth anything near the asking price for the one on e-bay I think I will take several more pictures of it and make sure it is included in my homeowners insurance. Thanks again for your help! |
