Just got the new Adamas ute, and when I unpacked it, I strumed a few chords, and decided to give it a good cleaning. Took the strings off, cleaned it, and restrung it with 1717's. Now It has a buzz, so I took the back plate off and after searching, found three of the braces loose, just below the bridge. Should I try to glue them, and if so, with what type of glue, or should I get ahold of Ovation and see what they want me to do. This guitar is as new otherwise and hasn't even been registered.

Cliff, I got this one on ebay used, but it is as new other than the problem I stated. I really don't want to loose this one and send it back because I got such a good price on it. I thought there might be an easy fix. If not, I will contact John and see what he will do for me. Sorry I said new in the original post.

John will fix it!

In the mean time communicate with the Seller to recoup some funds.

Odd. Sounds like some trauma from top being pushed in. Was it shipped packed well??
If it had heavier strings on it before you put the 1717's on it... they might have been pulling top just hard enough to disguise the vibration...

I had that happen to a guitar I shipped. It must have taken a big hit from the UPS man and a couple of braces were knocked loose.
It was under warranty and the service department fixed it.

Yeah, Al, I think I will call John tomorrow and arrange to send it in. At the price I paid, I can afford to have it fixed right even if it comes out of my pocket. I'll get an estimate and try to get it back from the seller, but if not, I still will have an excellent guitar. Shame, I won't be able to take it on vacation with me.

At times the top of the UTE creeps me out. It seems like if I tapped it with my finger hard enough, I could poke a hole right through it.

I had a loose brace on my Folklore and fixed it with a little carpenter's glue, but I wouldn't touch it with the Ute. You did well enough that even with the cost of a factory fix you will be ahead and won't have to worry about whether your patch job will hold.
I'd haggle with the seller over the cost of repair and possibly with UPS, but I'd keep the Ute and send it to the factory for the fix. They might be able to give you an opinion on how and when it happened that you could use in your negotiations.

Yes...and it's never been regestered. I think he bought it from that Oklahoma guy on Ebay.(?)

Mark, I think thats exactly how it's going to go down. I want it done right, and at this point, I can afford the cost of repair if I have to pay for it. If I can recoup some of the cost, all the better, but I'm not too optimistic about that. I would have to have the seller deal with UPS, and I don't know how far that would go, if you know what I mean.

Jim,

What a bummer. :(

I remember right after getting my 1997 Collectors I cracked 3 of the tuning knobs.

With the advice of other OFC members I contacted Ovation customer service. With their help, NO MORE PROBLEM. :D

BTW; It is currently 19 outside with a wind chill of about 10. Bring your long-johns. :D

Well, I'm over the initial shock now, and have sent an email to John to beg for mercy on this. We'll see how it goes. At any rate, It's going to the mothership to make it right no matter what it costs. I'm not letting this one go.
