I wonder if anyone could tell their favorite place to go to try different Ovation and Adamas guitars. I live a bit remote, and the nearest music stores have only some occasional Celebrity. Adamas are not even listed in the internet catalog of the Norwegian Ovation distributor. It seems that the high end guitars are exclusively wood boxes in the stores where I've been the later years. Also the prices on the guitars in Norway are at least twice the retail prices i see in the US internet stores. So, any special places/stores recommended? May influence on my future travel planning

After looking at his gallery he has a great variety.

Tony C and Noah have a pretty awesome collection for anyone in the southern California region....and it's a Witko free zone!

Gentleman...
Note that Hobbypicker is from Norway.
Jerome or Paul Templeman are much closer.
But even if the countries are small, even that is quite a drive.

Dave was a great host when I visited him last year. I didn't have enough time, however. Tough to beat his selection of the best of Ovation. He had a couple nice Martins, too.

The last 2 Ovations I tried at Al's, I now own. He's got the best collection of new Ovations, outside of the factory.

When I initially read Cliff's response I thought, "well that was obvious", but after a little more thought..... other than some personal collections, there really is no place to try out Ovation guitars. If a music store actually has a sound room, chances are they don't have but a few import Ovations anyway. I must agree, the best places to try out different Ovations are at Al's house or the Factory.

I've only been to Al's once - but he's definitely got the best selection I've ever seen.

If you're gonna travel from Norway to play Ovations, you have to have something to make it a bigger experience than that. I say we all want you to come to the factory next spring. It would be the ultimate Ovation experience. You get to meet everyone, jam till you can't keep your eyes open any more, play almost any O you want (maybe even get a smokin' deal on one while you're here). Join us! John <>{

Seems that a trip to New York would be a good starting point then. I may be a guitar nut, but will not travel only to try guitars, will combine with a vacation probably. Planning is a bit difficult at the moment because we've been living with my wife's cancer the later two years. She's on chemotherapy for the moment, and we hope for a miracle to happen, but are prepared for anything really. This means I do really not know how my next year will be, but I do hope I'll be able to go sometime.

Maybe I'll make it for the 2008 tour, if the factory's not moved to SE Asia by then.

The Tour was the best excersize in overstimulus, fellowship and sleep depravation I've had in a very long time!

There weren't that many solid bodies though.

Best Places to Try Out an Ovation:

1. Factory Tour and OFC Jam
2. Dave Witko's House - Acoustic
3. Miles House - Solidbody
4. Michael Wong's Office - Adamas and Book
5. Tony Calman's Adoption Agency - Adamas and Special Issue
6. Glenn "StringedInstruments" Anderson's House of Ovation acoustics and World Mandos...

... 25. MWoody's Workshop and Reconfigured Solids...

The best retail place I've seen is Tommy Lee's in Tsar Sim Chewy in Hong Kong.
A real nice selection.

Outside of retail:

Your next best bet probably is link up with some our French brothers, some of those guys have really extensive selections.
After that probably coming to the factory in the late spring,
And after that, if there's a get together, like they recently had up in the Northeast.
Or you might organize your own up in Norway.
I guess it's pretty cold and dark up there now. You take care.

Oh - BROTHERS!

At first glance, I thought you saig "Brothels".

Now that I think of it, I'd much prefer the French brothels. No offense to the French brothers.
