It's been a couple years now. It may be about a half hour north of town on the main drag.
A good size building all by itself on the west side of the road.

Collings are one of the best, if not the best of the smaller shop production guitars out there. Neither better nor worse than Ovation, just different.

Music Outlet on Rt 66. About 5 miles from my house. Lots of Martins Taylors And Gibson's.

Banjo's, (sorry), A lot of electrics also.

Not that many Ovations. Some Celebrity's, 1 or 2 LX models and a NEW 1997 Collectors,(narrow neck).

It is a cool store. Very cluttered.

I've found that usually the messier the store the better. A very neat looking guitar store never did much for me.

Hey now... My Mom lives in TN, and I was born in Fort Campbell! (Army Brat, just passin' thru)
Pigeon Forge... Isn't that where Loretta Lynn, or Dolly Parton, or Reba McIntire, or one of them Redneck Chicks are from?

Oh yeah... and bring your dustcloth.
.
We rented this cabin for a week a few years ago. We want to get back there again. It's only about 15 minutes from the main drag in Pigeon Forge. It has one heck of a balcony to strum a guitar on while watching the sun set.

Yeah, Brad. I know what you mean. We rented a cabin here about 6 or 7 years ago over Christmas, and got hooked. We"ve done the same every year since. It's nice to get out of the heat of Fl. and, like you say, sit on the back porch and strum a few. Glad I brought the Adamas, I'd hate to see what the temp extreems would do to a wood top Ovation going from the inside to the outside here. Love the smokies! (mountians that is)

You really gotta trust the wife if you're renting that cabin...

"Well Officer, last I saw him, he was sitting on the rail drinking a beer, playing his guitar..."

(and that'd be the truth cause, she closed her eyes as she push'd ya)

"Honey.....have you seen the kids?"
"Not lately... I told them to go play in the back yard..."

In some cases, it's not a joke.
I have a book called "Death in the Grand Canyon". It has happend more than once. "Just one step back, dear" said the man with the camera.

The day we left a family moved into the next cabin over. What did I see them unloading from the trunk? Yep, an Ovation case.

Dolly Parton. :)
I have always had huge respect for Dolly.

1. Fun performer who moved along with the times
2. Fantastic songwriter with catalogue to die for
3. Amazing philanthropist to her home neighbourhood (Dollywood employs a ton of people and her book gifting charity was way ahead of Oprah)
4. A bizzare and absurd figure of "womanliness" that fueled many adolescent fantasies in the 1970's and 80's :D

In particular if you like well produced contemporary bluegrass style music her Little Sparrow Album is a 'tour de force'

Sadly her disco fever tracks and "assets" got her more attention than her many other talents.

Finally from the category "Bizare and scary" - if you can get a copy of the 7" 45 RPM of Jolene and play it at 33RPM, Dolly changes to a black baritone with the richest most awesome voice!!!

Dolly is, well, Dolly.

She has a done a lot for this area and has earned every penny she's made.

Her song "Coat of many colors" is a true story and she remembers what it feels like to have very little.

They don't sell on ebay, and belittle the walk in customers.... How do they pay the rent?

They could have just said "Oh, really? Adamas? Come and play this model and see how you think it compares... Or something to the effect. You keep your dignity, and they might make a sale.

GGG, believe it or not, I spent a week in Sevierville about 15 years ago. I went with a team of volunteers to do some fixin' up at Smokey Mountain Church Camp there.
