I was in my local Gtr Ctr this afternoon and there were two LX's (a C2078 LX and a 6773 LX) as well as a 1778T and a (used) 1867 Elite hanging on the BOTTOM ROW! Yes, you read it right - the bottom row. Within easy reach of any and everyone. Well, that about wraps it up for the universe's continued existence, as this is, I'm pretty sure, the final sign of the apocalypse.

Kinda like when I noticed the TV networks using music by The Who on their shows, and Bob Seger on Chevy commercials.

Ovies are an incredible value. So the $3K+ Martins and Taylors will be on top where grubby hands can't get them easily. It doesn't mean the end of anything. It just means we'll continue to have quality instruments at a very reasonable price.

Let's not forget that our O's and a's are tuff. All they need is a leather strap hook and a 6" patch of carpet to keep the wall off of the bowl.

My guess is that the life expectancy of a badly priced Ovation in a Music Store is 3 times that of a wood box.

I thought the carpet was to protect the wall.

Actually, what I've seen reported on the board is that most GC's put the Celebs where they're accessible, but the nice USA O's are where people can't get at 'em. At this store that was not the case.

Of course, while I was there I saw a father take the 2078 and hand it to his [couldn't be older than] 6 yr old son, who proceeded to drop it. Only the quick action of the sales guy saved it from a nasty knock. My first thought was, "Man, they need to put these things up higher..."

When looking for a 12-string at GC, they only had one. High up, Celebrity, $900, no case. If I wanted to spend that I woulda (see below). If they put the Ovations lower, so that more people would try them, maybe they would sell more. Also if the ever got some USO's, thery might sell more.
That would be a Good Thing? Or not?

Wish I had a stray $800!

Whenever I take my 10 yr. old to GC I ENCOURAGE him to take the O's over the rest since they are less destructable (amongst other reasons!)
