Location: Zion, Illinois | I bought an Ovation Custom Legend last year from E-Bay. It was the best sounding Ovation I have ever heard. However, due to the dryness of the winter, it developed a very bad crack on the top from the bridge behind the B string all the way edge of the bowl.
I took it to one repair shop, but he said it couldn't be fixed because the crack was right on the bracing.
Is this true? Anybody have any cracking problems with their Ovations?
Any advise welcomed. |

Location: Scotland | I have a 1972 Legend with a crack in exaclty the same place, it was repaired over 15 years ago & the repair is totally stable. This guitar has VT bracing rather than the A-bracing of your model but that should not make a difference. Because of the unique materials & construction methods used, some repair persons don't like, don't know how, or just plain refuse to work on Ovations. There is no way that the crack is unrepairable. Try talking to Ovation to get an authorised repair-shop in your area. And use a humidifier to prevent any further damage, see previous posts on this subject.

| Hey Guys, nice job on the site! I'll try to get in here every couple days in between answering all the questions that come in on our ovationguitars.com site.
As far as filling the crack - I have a couple Ovations that have filled cracks and still sound great. Just make sure it's repaired by an authorized Ovation service center. |

Location: Zion, Illinois | I did something tonight that I don't normally do. I changed string on my cracked Ovation by removing all the strings. I did that so that I could check the crack out for myself. I had one person look at it and he said that the crack was right on top of the bracing. I found this not to be true at all, it is perhaps 1/4 inch away from the bracing.
If I were to send you some pictures of the guitar, can you give me a general, ball park idea of what it would cost to fix it?

Location: Zion, Illinois | I told a co-worker about the guitar. She told me of a music shop that repairs guitars that's right on my way to work. I called them and they said that they could fix it.

Ovation Repair
