Got a chance to get a '91 Collector's but it's not in the -4 finish. It's in a Blue Metal Flaked Black finish. It looks great but I'm just wanting to see what you all knew (possible refin?, original?). I understand some were made in a black finish and it was a very limited number of that year's run of the '91 Collector's Model. Thanks in advance. |

Go for it! |

I tend to shy away from black guitars, for a number of reasons. There is a reason why the manufacturer decides to cover up nice wood (i.e., mineral stains, imperfections in the grain, manufacturing "goofs", etc.) Near as I can tell about this particular black finish is that it's done right! Just the right amount of blue metalflake in it to look classy but not gawdy. I believe I'll pull the trigger on this one and pick her up. Is this the only "Collector's Edition" to have any inlay or paint that celebrates Ovation? It has a nice inlay on the headstock "25 Years......"? |
