as i continue to get my latest ovation ready for it's first gig i noticed that the clear finish over the blue is starting to separate at the bottom of the bridge. that happened on my old balladeer too but there was no clear coat in that brown sunburst one but maybe i just didn't notice it. it seems that a certain amount of finish cracking would be normal on a guitar 20 years old, but i always believed in "a stich in time-------". i also believe in "if it ain't broke dont fix it". when the bridge finally did come off of the baladeer it didn't do it too neatly and took some finish with it. when do i decide it's time to send it in and what am i getting into if the bridge needs to be replaced or re set?

Probably now. The sunbursts and colors always affected the bridge adhearence to the top. You'll note that colored tops have bridge bolts, the two inlays on the bridge. Natural finishes usually don't have them. With the full color on the top it will make a hell of a mess when it lets go. better safe than bridgeless.......
