I really want an acoustic guitar and I've decided to go with an Ovation and now I'm stuck trying to decide which one is the best bang for the buck. I can get the 1867 with the case for $899, or I can get the 35th Anniversary for $895 without the case...which one of these guitars is better and why? If I'm paying for a guitar that costs more just because it's limited production...I could care less about how many are made. I want the best value for the money. Any ideas? Thanks

let your ears decide.

value is subjective. If that is not an issue to you then your choice is easy play each one buy the one that sounds best to you.

Close your eyes and play both. The one that sounds and plays better is the right one. You can always get a case somewhere. Interestingly, most of the people who bought the collectors guitars bought them for what the guitar did, not that it was a "collectable" Maybe that's different now?

As an extention of what cwk2 mentiones... If you find one model to be more pleasing than the other, follup by playing other examples of the model you chose. Every guitar plays a little different. It may be subtle and not noticeable, or it may be quite noticeable, but my point is.. If you are going to plop down a hunk of change, get the best you can (in your ears) for your money.

The other school of thought is to get a big strap and put the guitar on and go stand in front of a mirror and see how it sounds.
