I played one and liked it most likely if the current crop of adamas guitars appeal to you then you will also like this one. I will have to check my old catalogs for a pic but don;t wait for me my stuff is in such a mess I may never find it

I just decided to go to the top as they say and get and Adamas, maybe another month before i get my Mill :( (Shop and Ovation delays  long story!) But i really also liked the look of the Elite Limited Russian Burr walnut top, with 300 year old Czar walnut, God that guitar looks soooo "Yummy" ( i could say summat else but dont know if the forum has an auto censor on it) Never know, maybe ill get a IR payback (UK version of IRS) Anyone got one of these Russians? only 100 made so they say. As soon as i get my Mill, ill post some close ups to see the details, hope the site is up and working by then for us to post pics of our prides and joys.

The fibres were dparallel to the strings and the birch core, a constant .030" thick I might add, was at a 30 degree angle to the grafite ( 2:00 for those looking at the guitar face on) They were working on this weaver about the time I was packing. Guess the cross weave of the corbonium don't effect the sound??? I do recall the roundhole carboniums. We made one back in the 70's and it was awful. No sound. When marketing wanted to try it again I got out the door before it would be associated with me. Terrible guitar.

I'll probably take my own photos once I have it, and will post them. [ March 23, 2002: Message edited by: phaseshift ]

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 873 Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | phaseshift; thanks for the link. i am speachless. that is one of the most unique guitars i have ever seen. if it plays like it looks, you have something very special. i'd be drumming my fingers and watching the clock and would be up early on the 25th. can anyone tell me how they can do the intricate inlays like on this guitar. it looks so precise that my guess would be laser. we used that allot in my old shop for precision cutouts of metal (as well as plasma cutting). we farmed out the laser work as the equipment was expensive then. i paid $100 per hour in 1989 for laser time, but it was fast and highly accurate. it turned out to be the most cost effective in the long run. i could fax a black line drawing and pick up my pieces the same day. we also used laser for etching designs into the marble table tops we made. pure computer style technology.

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 15654 Location: SoCal | Russ: It's not my guitar. Somebody was selling this on ebay. I have no doubt that the guitar sounds good, but despite what everybody here thinks, I think it's butt ugle. I also don't like the unfinished neck. I'll put up with an unfinished neck on Big Blue (my Adamas 12), but I think it's one of the ways that Ovation is trying to cut costs. And I believe that it cheapens the guitar. My main guitar for several years has been a Yamaha 12-string, but I'll be playing the hell out of my Millennium when I get it. Does anyone know if Ovation will repair old Matrixes? Mine has a cracked top, a tuning button that's no longer gripping the metal peg, and naturally lots of wear on the aluminum molded frets.
