Re: Duty on the guitar? Yeah, there's a duty to play it, enjoy it, and take good care of it.
Oh, you mean money? No idea.

yes there is duty on the guitar and I can tell you from experience that the canadian customs people are the absolute worst in he world. they have destroyed many things I have shipped to canda one package was so damaged the guy went pick it up and refused it he just told me keep the money I don't want to deal with it.
I talked to my local post office and they told me that many people have been refusing to ship to canada because of the insane custom people. oh and just try to make claim with the usps insurance people i am still waiting and it i ONE YEAR This month.
have it shipped ups you will pay more for the shipping and more for the duty but the chances that you get the item in one piece are much greater.
sorry for the rant but I have done a bunch of shipping.

It is the Ovation Eclipse. As I understand it, the bodies were made in Germany. Bridge, Tailpiece and Tuners are Schaller. Neck made in USA at Ovation. I believe many or all of the eclipse bodies are just Tornado or Thunderhead bodies that didn't look pleasing enough for staining so they were painted with the same stuff they used on the black Breadwinners.

alex, the guitar is in canada and will be shipped to minneapolis so i will only be dealing with us customs. since the guitar was made in the usa i hoped there wouldn't be any customs. you would reccommend against the postal route from canada??

thanks russ

russ I have never had to pay duty for incoming stuff to the states although who knows. I would spend the extra money and use UPS I have seen both the canadian and the usps destroy stuff. UPS seems better with packages
