I was FINALLY able to get some together, so here they are. Many THANX!! to Elias (especially for the posting "help") and to Sam for the interest. - c.

I would think it could be 26-88 or something like that. 88 is the fundamental frequency of the body. The ones in the 80's or low 90's sound a bit bassyer ( is that a word?) Does it have the original case and case cover? We sprayed the case with a mist of the body color and some of the sparkles too.

I just checked both of my early adamases and there is no serial number written under the walnut trus cover?? Without a label it would be impossible to trace the correct serial number.Maybe it is written on the bracing like most other adamases..According to ovation the slotted headstock adamas did not appear until serial number 26 and ended at 62... Any way you look at it ,it is definatelly an early adamas slotted headstock with the early inlays, carved heel, gold binding.. The only mistery here is the exact serial number?[ April 01, 2002: Message edited by: samova ] [ April 01, 2002: Message edited by: samova ]

There's no way I could afford to actually buy one. With the high opening bid on the one on ebay I wonder if it will sell? I seem to do better selling if I set a really low opening bid on things to get things rolling. At any rate I'm glad you posted lots of pix, it was fun to look at. Thanks for the eye candy! The only thing is that it's permanently attached, so you'd be getting me in tow (and I LOVE TEQUILA!!) along with it. Know any "Buffett" tunes?

In the pic you can see who else (besides lucky us) used to own and play the legendary slot-head Adamas: Marcel Dadi, old Charlie, Glen Campbell, Nancy Wilson, Neil Diamond, and other, not included here. Thanks! ;)

As you mentioned the fundamental frequency of the body is "88" and the Adamas #0031-88 is indeed very bassy! The label inside reads "model 1687-8, serial No. 0031-88, 4-21-1976", and it is signed by Charles Kaman. I too I checked and there is no serial number "31" written under the walnut truss rod cover. Bill, I would love to see pictures of your slothead Adamas now. It's only you left..... Common! post some pics!

Please take a look of Marcel Dadi's Adamases, with slotted-headstock. The one in the pic indicated, may be the early prototype (serial #19, 20, or 21) that Dadi owned. What do you think Bill?

You can see the early prototype (#19, 20, or 21?) along with other later complete slotted-headstock non-cutaway (the blue 1687-8, and a beige one) as well as later slotted-headstock cutaway Adamas : the legendary orange cutaway and the beige cutaway with slotted headstocks! Enjoy the pics! ;)

We made alot of guitars for him. Whatever happened to his collection, does anyone know? I think you're right that 19' 20 and 21 were the bearclaw rosette ones. Marcel had one of those too. I checked mine and there is no s/n under the rod cover.
