Am I the only one who thinks it's a little odd that Ovation never did a Collector's based upon an Adamas? There are definitely things they could have done that would have been different.

It was never done because production couldn't stand up to it. The collectors is introduced in Jan (NAMM)and orders taken till March(Frankfort) At least it used to be this way. Production starts in Novemberish and should be done by mid yearish. Adamas production was always in the 3-5/day range. The collectors used to sell about 1500-2000 per year. Figure 8 months, 20 production days a month, that's 160 days or 10-12 guitars a day on top of normal production. Can't do it. Adamas has lots of special tooling, big $$$$$$ to increase. For a one shot deal? Not likely. Plus the retail would be very high and the target was always for the Custom Legend range. There's your reason.

well they already are tooled for the folklore neck so attach an adamas overlay and that part is done.

the bowl will have to be mid since there are no more deep.

electronics can be the latest one I have not heard any reports on the new preamp in the 2002 collector;s but that may be the direction to go.

OK the hard part the rope binding, textured woven top and carved bridge

If they build it we will come.....that sounds pornogaphic but was not meant to be...

The only special ADAMAS I ever saw was for the Japanese I think.. Called the Century ADAMAS . Very thin spruce top .

I think Phase, that when they mention Adamas on this forum, the Vets are refering to the original few slothead Adamas`s and Adamas II, and not the modern ones, which i gather from this forum are not a patch on one of the early guitars :(
But i`m happy, cos my Mill outshines anything ive evern owned before

Aw, c'mon!

I dunno if I'd consider myself a "Vet", but I CERTAINLY wouldn't consider myself an "elitist".

I checked out the "pic" on Phase's post:
VERY, very nice!!!

I'm not absolutely crazy about the "planetary" position markers, but I absolutely LOVE that dark blue "cast" in the highlights of the top when the light hits it right. Gorgeous!!!

Okay, so this is the "Millennium edition" guitar,
did it come out for the 2000 "millennium" or the the 2001 "millenium"? (Just when I thought this whole "M" word controversy was over and this topic'd never be argued again).

Congrats, gents!! You both own fine pieces of musical artistry!

My "next" is definitely gonna be a "12", and I had been pondering an older US-made Ovation, but after seeing Phase's pic and playing the one's I saw Sunday, I'm gonna strive for a new Adamas 12.

I also checked out the pics  gorgeous. Just reaffirms my decision that my next will be an Adamas.....

and would that be the millenium of the Julian, Gregorian, Chinese, Hebrew, Incan or Aztec Calendar..... inquiring minds want to know

The serial number on my Millennium Adamas is 17001, which according to the list here at the fan club would mean it was made in 2000, or as I like to call it, the fake millennium. I just purchased it last month, in 2002. So by averaging 2000 and 2002, I come up with 2001, the "real" millennium.

Thanks Cliff, the Mill was a 2000 model(mines 16631), as far as finish and quality goes, i cant compare to an old Adamas as i havnt seen one in the flesh (i wouild love to tho!)and the usual rule is early hand made stuff is always the best a company ever makes, and its all downhill after that when they have to compromise on pruduction quantity/quality.
But the the first thing that really got me on my Mill when i first played it was the neck.It felt the right shape and the feel of the neck as your hand glided up and down was beautifull :D soo smooth, its not laquered, its like a polished wood satin finish, so the palm doesnt stick to it,neat!
