I'm considering replacing/upgrading some of the parts for my '76 CB (I wanna replace the saddle/piezo assembly which are pretty "grooved", and for cosmetics some gold tuners).

Being that I never did (or had to) do this before,
does anyone know of a good, reputable source for parts, or is it best to just to deal w/Connecticut?

If you are willing to take your time, you might watch ebay. Stuff like that comes up for sale now and again. Otherwise, I suspect that your best bet (also, if you want brand new parts) is to go with Ovation.

At least call factory service and get a price for the parts. You'll need to get the saddle there anyway. Go to the vintage show that Al's doing this weekend and look for the keys.

wish I woulda known about this place a month ago when I had to replace the bridge and saddle on my Artist.... what a pain that was to find the parts.... ended up ordering from the factory. Hey, Al, I don't suppose you have any glue laying around for the fretboards, do ya?

I'll take a week on Long Beach Island or Cape May (Jersey Shore Points for those of you not "in the know") over Miami ANYDAY.

Except for maybe SOUTH BEACH in Miami...that's a different story...to sit at a sidewalk table across from the ocean...a mojito in one hand, a nice cigar in the other...latin rhythms carried on the breeze....mahogany-skinned beauties sauntering by in raw silk sundresses.......ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....................oh!...(ahem!)...Jersey.....yeah, Jersey's nice to.

In SJ we do not speak that way not even remotely. In fact I have seen some big fights over people trying to imitate an accent and attribute it to SJ the line of demarcation is trenton after you get that far north you are on your own.
IMHO Joe Piscopo did us all a diservice but what the hell do I know I am just a geek with a guitar show to run and a bunch of gear to sell.

By the way Al . . . .

the parts I bought from you at the the show for my CB worked GREAT!!

I had a band gig last Friday night, so I hurried home after work, put the new parts on and restrung before packing up to go out to play.

It's like having a new guitar!!!

A new saddle seems to have cured my "string popping" problem, it tunes easier, and STAYS in tune easier. It even seems to SOUND better plugged in (perhaps piezo technology has improved since my original saddle in '76)!

And the tuners . . . what's NOT to like about gold tuners!!!

My lead guitarist (20-something year old "kid" who grew up on 80's Hair/Metal music) thought it was "gay" of me to put gold tuners on a guitar that really didn't NEED new tuners. I promptly reminded him that when I bought this guitar, his concept of "rocking" was doing it back and forth in his own diapered excrement and that IF by chance, IF his Korean-built, black, solid body "Musician's Friend Covergirl" knock-off of a REAL guitar perhaps gives him as many years of FAITHFUL service . . . he MIGHT consider showing his appreciation by "treating" it with a little token of esteem in the form of an upgrade, but that probably wouldn't be POSSIBLE because by then the "guitar" company who made it will probably be making palm pilots!!!!

......that shut him up.

thx again for the parts.

Cliff,
Guess you told him!!
Then again, did he mean "gay" as a complement? "Kids" these days have a different perspective of things.

glad the parts worked out..another satisfied customer.
Well there was no doubt in my mind about it. As for the gold tuners. While he is tring to keep his chinese ping or grover branded ping tuners in tune you will be finished playing the set.
there is something about gold hardware that I personally like. I know that it tends t wear etc but it is just so damn classy. now I am not talking gretsch white falcon here but class.
see my post on what makes a guitar fancy

I just got done replacing the chrome tuners on my old Country Artist with gold ones. Really gives the guitar a touch of elegance.
