Location: Kalamazoo, MI | My friend tells me I can put in some of the Fender Jazzmaster pickups without extensive modifications. I don't want to mess up my guitar and want the option of putting the originals back in.
Any thoughts? I'm hoping to find some of the newer ones that are a bit quieter than the vintage ones.
I'd like to find something for less than a hundred for the set.
Any ideas or thoughts? |

| mini humbuckers and filtertrons and tv jones are very close in size but you will still have to modify the pickguard... which messes up putting the originals back in.
keep the original pickguard, with the viper pickups in it, and buy another one for the swap.
Miles... aka Mr Ovation might have the pickguard that you need, and if not Mwoody can probably help you out... he makes some really nice ones in various finishes and wood laminates.

Artec makes some affordable minis that have a decent sound.

Location: Kalamazoo, MI | I guess I am starting to lean towards just picking up one of those new Jazzmaster reissues...something like $800.
I really hate to start messing with my Ovation, it is all original and has a pretty OK sound. Maybe I can get the neck I want (which is like the '78 strat) on that one.
Those are some pretty nice examples of your work though. |

Location: Upper Left USA | I could use a set of Viper Pickups and I can make a PG to fit what ever you want.
If you go bigger or move the location you will have to route the body some.
I agree with Beal, Keep original and obtain more. I only take license with the bent and broken. |
