Location: Gloucester, England, UK | Have contacted Ovation about this, and they CANT give me an answer, but suggested this forum. Somebody help !!!
Im on my second 12-string Ovation elite.
I have to tune the bottom E strings up to F sharp for a particular song.
Is this ok ? (ie; is the bridge gonna hold, or will the extra tension make the bridge come away!)
I use 12 string lights, 10-47.
Please help !

Location: 6 String Ranch | If it's just those two strings they should hold fine. Is your guitar a natural finish? |

Location: Gloucester, England, UK | No, not a natural finish, its a Cherry Sunburst - 2000 model (she's called "Shania". Sad, I know, but the nearest ill get to puttin my hands on her !).
Does the finish make a difference ? |

Location: Zion, Illinois | Why don't you just tune the other 10 strings down a whole step, then capo the second fret?

Location: NJ | You might want to try this as well (though you will probably have to change your chord "fingering":
Take a capo and trim the rubber away so that when you put it on the 2nd fret you're only "capo-ing" the low E string.
Whether or not this'll work depends upon the chord structure of that particular song.
Last year, I saw this guy by the name of Willie Porter who was the "warm up" act for Jethro Tull.
This guy played this absolutely AWESOME solo acoustic 12-string instrumental that sounded like three friggin' guitarist playing simultaneously!!
BRILLIANT!!!
I noticed he was playing with TWO capoes on the guitar!
On his web page I learned that (for that particular song) he uses an open tuning on the guitar and uses two capoes that are "notched" so that they only capo specific strings (each capo affects different strings). Sounds like a lot to go through, I know, but what a SOUND!!
