Imagine how I felt when I bought my Custom Legend last year. Best sounding guitar I've ever owed. One month later the top cracked from the middle of the bridge down, not a finish crack but a real gap-in-top crack. Sigh. Still sounded great though. Bradley

Hopefully, yours won't culminate with the same result as mine. Maybe there should be FC (finish crack) and SC (structural crack) added to the color suffix digit on the model numbers!! Has anyone ever experienced (or heard of) top "failure" on any of the Adamas models?

The dirty thing that they can do is delaminate if smacked hard enough. This will show up as a slight buzz or rattle on certain frequencies. Not really a good fix for it either, except ebay.

I have seen some adamas guitars with sunken tops but nothing that made them unplayable

Check the battery compartment, the prongs on the jack sockets, the preamp, the nuts on the controls or anything else that may be slightly loose inside. Paul

The fibreglass & the finish stays put, result - a top crack. Paul [ April 26, 2002: Message edited by: Paul Templeman ]
