Hi

I have a new DCS247S-5 Celebrity Long Neck, but I did not receive any instructions re: the pre-amp nor the filters with it. I got the reg manual. I have a series of questions...
My amp is a Line 6 Flextone HD, but the other day during practice, (thank god), the ovation started cutting off completly. I thought it was the amp, but no, that was fine, then I noticed that if I moved the plug in and out of teh 1/4 recep. in the guitar, I could get it to work. Battery seems fine(repalced it w/ a new one), but I do not know how the little led battery status indicator works. Usually off, but flashes on when plugging in or out.

anyone have a copy of the electronics manual?
do I need to have it repaired? seems OK now.
do I leave guitar while not in use plugged in or do I have to unplug it.?>

thanks for any help

Does an electronics manual even exist? Call and ask the marketing dept, they would have created it. 860-509-8888.
It used to be with Ovations, always unplug when not in use, when it's plugged in the battery is draining. I would guess it's probably still the same.

Sounds like the jack socket is the culprit. The fix is easy & cheap. Buy a good quality stereo jack socket (switchcraft or similar) and replace the existing one. The third tag on the stereo socket goes to the battery (red wire) & switches on the power when a plug is inserted.

Hello everyone,
Time to come out of "lurk mode" and start asking dumb questions, my wife has an ovation mandolin and I just purchased (still waiting for it to arrive) a "Balladeer" with OP-24? electronics, do they require a stereo plug to function with an amp? If so could someone tell me which segment of the stereo plug goes where, I am planning on using it with a mono amp, so I am a bit confused about how to wire a stereo jack if needed.

For the original poster - try another cord first?
the jack may have a loose wire connection or break in the wire?
(I believe in trying the simple/cheap things first)

Thanks
Jim...

For the mando and Balladeer just a regular cord will do.

Thanks all...

Contacted Ovation, they will send me a manual re: electronics...

asked about the operation of battery condition indicator, still unclear as to the operation, ... maybe papers coming will clarify, ovation rep. could not remember how it worked

re cutting off, ovation rep said it sounded like good advise, to replace the jack w/ a good quality jack like switchcraft

re trying another cable... had been there and done that... but no harm in asking... we are usually too preocupied with the problem and often overlook the obvious and simple... this time, it did not help

The Line 6 has a very effective noisegate... (maybe my guitar playing needs work? - :) ...

well it looks like all's well for now

thanks all
