To all,
Looks like I have finally found the Ovation haven on-line ! I have recently bought a used Ovation 1868 Elite. From the apearence of the guitar she has seen some heavy use. My local Luthier dressed the frets and she now sings! The problem is where is the serial number? I can't find it anywhere, is it in the body somewhere?
Thanks for the help,
Shane

They are in the bowl, a small sticker by the neck block. At a time in the late 90's it was switched to numbers on the back of the peghead.

Cwk2,
Thanks for the info. Just after I posted I called Ovation customer support. I have to say I was very impressed, to say the least, with John at Ovation. By my serial number I have a 1990 Ovation Elite. Was it a good year? Or is that only wine? I have been wanting an Ovation for at least a decade and my dream is now reality! I love this guitar!!!
Thanks again for the quick response!
See ya,
Shane

I don;t know of any particularly bad years but you may want to update the preamp at some point. enjoy

Alpep,
Being a newbie to the Ovations. Which preamp would you or anyone else suggest?
Thanks,
Shane

Contact Ovation. They can tell you the cost and what they would put in your guitar. If you are going to put newer electronics in your guitar, always put in the most current that will fit.

The Optima is superb, but, as an alternative, leave your guitar alone & buy a piece of outboard gear that will be cheaper & do a better job.
