A while back there was a discussion on the different pickups on the older Breadwinners. Take a look at this auction on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=891138497
It appears to the #16 off the assembly line.

No actually it's a couple years off the line... It's #16 after they went to 5 digit serials..

These pickups are confusing, I understand that they are single-coils, the ones I've played certainly sound like single-coils, but their size & the fact that they have 12 pole-pieces would suggest 2 coils. The Schaller pickups on the Tornado also have 12 poles, but I'm pretty sure they're single coils also. Anyone shed any light?

Miles, the neck plate is the earliest type that was used only breafly in the very beginning of production until the later stamped neckplates were made...I think this might really be #16
However, this does not explain the five digit serial number though ??The early serial numbers were only three and four digit serials with early neckplates......VERY INTERESTING!!!

Sam, wouldn't a Breadwinner as early as that have the output jack on the side rather than on the pickguard?

Paul, you would think so..That early model probably should have the jack on the side, but who knows when this guitar was put together or if it is all original or if the parts are all from one guitar? Im not going to bid on it since i already have a white breadwinner.A factory gloss white breadwinner..Also, the breadwinner on e-bay will probably go pretty high due to the serial number....

I also have a white one of that style neck plate.. number 1088. The "1" looks like it was stamped when the plate was made, and the "088" came later. The jack is on the edge as you can see in this link.
Breadwinner 1088 So hard to tell on the Breadwinners and Deacons as we have discussed before, it really depends on when it was made. I think the one on eBay is probably all original, just put together later, with the last of the early neck plates and humbucker pickups.
