Presumably these replace the standard strap button? I ask because Artec make an endpin preamp to go with the magnetic pickup I have in my Applause. Also I tried and failed to remove the end pin in order to install a ('passive') output jack there. How is it attached inside? The usual Ovation output jack location on the back of the bowl never seemed right to me. |

I used to sell Artec pickups and preamps with my last company. All their magnetic pickups are standard impedance, so they don't actually need a preamp to work into guitar amp inputs or line-level mixer inputs. There's no reason why you cant use a preamp with the Artec Magnetics, but it's completely unneccesary. |

Currently I have an external preamp built around a Maplins module and I use it to (a) get an audible signal through my home stereo and (b), to overdrive my homemade mini amp (and potentially a proper electric guitar amp) for messing about with blues type sounds. Thought a preamp together with a volume pot might give more flexiblity. Also I see Artec sells the MSP50 pickup packaged with their EPP. |

| Does your Maplins module just have the two EQ bands? Hi-de-hi and Lo-de-lo?
Only this side of the pond will get that. |
