...and it's not the first nor last time! :D

Seriously, just get 'em together and ya'll will work it out. I think you'll find that the more experienced will 'teach' more than they may realize. The n00bs will 'learn' more than they thought possible. The really positive side is that if ya'll are at about the same level and revel in the encounter, it's all FUN!

Do I sense another British invasion.... and a pot luck supper?

The TV series McCloud was based on a Clint Eastwood Movie from the late 60's Can't remember the name of it right now.

As for a Jam just go for it. If your worried about the music then email a short list around first so your all familiar with a few songs, the rest is just solo with accompanyment from those who can. Good food, and your choice of beverages and you should be good to go. Enjoy.

AJ invited me and Muzz to a Riverfire (fireworks) party at his place. Muzz and I did the social thing for a few hours, then got the guitars out and scared off the other guests so AJ could join in. Trouble is, the last bus left at midnight so I had to hightail it. Unfortunately SWMBO was away so I couldn't rely on her to keep me clear of drink driving charges.

I vote for getting people to bring along cheat sheets so those with the memory of a goldfish (like me) can join in - get them to make some copies so that non guitarists can sing along as well.

Well I once met Christy's brother who lived in Cork, who was probably his father. Will check him out though.

I love it when a thread takes off like this! There'll have to be an OFC gathering here one day.

I might have to take exception to the reference to a 'British Invasion' though!

Go to YouTube and have a look at " Cork Soakers "...

....unless you're a little prudish. Then I suggest you ignore the above suggestion.

In my house, in Cork, in Ireland, on the OFC...

That's it, none of you are invited!

Well we had the party (my 40th) on Sat. Went very well, my first 'public' performance in years (audiences don't come any tougher than your own family!).

Both musicians and non-musicians were well impressed with the 1615 - none had ever seen/heard/played anything like it before.

Good stuff "Corky" :D

Did you end up practising beforehand or using cheat sheets, or did you all just wing it?

I was also at a 40th on Saturday night down here (see my thread "too early for the cops") and had a great time

All of the above!

Practiced before with one of the guys, forgot some of what we practiced, winged it, used cheat sheet, and others joined in as well. Great fun all round. Must do it again.

A party with guitars is always good. Glad you pulled it off.
