Listing an item on ebay that is not actually in stock is not playing fair & is possibly against ebay's rules. I would get your dough back, buy elsewhere & leave them a shitty feedback report. I would also contact ebay customer support for their thoughts on the matter.

Yeah, definately send a message to e-bay. That's just wrong. They were supposed to have the item in stock, and even showed you their own pictures of it.
You could check out ebay's fraud report section and if that doesn't work you can file a complaint with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) thru ebay.
The most hassle-free way is to get your money back, but even from the cheap dealers like Musicians Friend, the elite t costs 699.99, so you could tell them they must buy one for you right away. I dunno, but they screwed up.

wow
now that is an interesting one. Obvioiusly they had it in stock probably had the opportunity to sell it and did and then tried to order you one and found out it would take a while.
If you paid I would get your money back and buy one from someone that has them in stock but beware MF is notorious for having stuff in the catalog or on line and not any in stock for sale.

On the subject of the Elite T, a UK guitar mag has just given a glowing reveiw to this particular guitar.

I truly feel for you, and I smell the unpleasant odor of a dealer preadvertising so as to collect the money prior to ordering the guitar or to cover an order he knew wouldn't be delivered until Sept. Does anybody know whether a dealer advertising on Ebay "buy it now for $xxx" can take more than one buyer? I'm not familiar with Ebay protocols.

Now I'll give advice with the caveat that it is free and might be worth that.

Any legal, or complaint to a gov't agency such as the FTC will take at least a year to resolve if you're lucky, the only value of either would be to prevent someone else from being ripped off.

If you can get a quick refund, you will have to find somewhere else to buy the guitar for the price. You are buying at a discount that the corner music store can't match and stay in business (he's already gone anyhow). So it's off to another mega-shyster discount puke.

If you wait until Sept. you will probably get your guitar and in the meantime you can read all the good reviews and hope you have one coming, brush up on your chops, and cuss out the SOB, and do the most effective thing, keep posting on this board so the puke will have national (actually international) disgrace. But in the end you'll get your guitar, and play it for 30 years as that 1 month waiting period fades into obscurity.

The discount guitar thing has destroyed the local dealer that could call the factory, resolve complaints, show you what you're buying, etc., he is what the price difference that made the discount paid for, take your choice. My grandson bought his Explorer through MF'ers and paid for a case, his Explorer was delivered a month ago, his case is "being built" and delivery is in the foggy future. They have his money, he has their excuses. One of the most important factors in making business work is cash flow, debt destroys profit, a smart CFO devises ways of recieving money before delivering product, you can see what this does to the lowly customer.

Sorry about the diatribe, Brian, I sympathize and say live with it, it's life in the modern world, take your discount and remember the Elite T would cost $999 retail. But, if they don't deliver even late, then let's form a posse and look for a nearby lamppost.

Bailey

Paul T.; is that magazine with the good review affiliated with any US publication that we might look for for the review?

Sorry about your dilemma ... I've always has good luck on ebay. I checked out MusiciansFriend.com ... they have it in stock with a case for $699.99 with free shipping (and probably no sales tax). MF has always done me right. If you can get your money back, you can have your guitar in a matter of days.

I saw the mag on the newstands when I was on New York last month, the latest issue with the Elite T reveiw should be available in the US in a month or so, it's called, imaginatively "The Guitar Magazine" In the meantime I'll see if I can scan some relevant bits of the reveiw into the computer & paste them up.

WOW THANKS FOR ALL THE SUGG.... The hole thing started with the debate on the mid-depth. The seller on ebay had the 1868T listed as the mid they had that one, but the 1778 is the mid. Well they said it was to come in an did not, then it was the end of sep. I wanted the PEWTER that is the one that is on order. Well sent them an emale asking them to give me an Adamas 1597 which they have for 1300,and righting off the loss to Ovation who they blame,or if they have it in black, snowlock has it in black and got it from the same seller. No reply yet may be they will bite on the Adamas..HA HA HA who knows!! Have waited a long time for my Ovation since 12 or 13 now 38 so whats a month. Think Bailey is right but I whant her Know!!!! O well going to see what they say thanks for all who read this and for all the help will keep you all informed. BRIAN

Though maybe it's improbable, I think it would be the absolute coolest thing ever if they gave you an Adamas! HA! :D Bailey's method would make for a smooth ride, and may just be what you have to do... Still, I think that's awesome you asked them for an Adamas! I like that "why not" approach! I guess we'll just see! Let me know what you hear from them!!

Glad to see your hanging in there. I ran into a little problem with the "lamp post" solution, the threat of which I had hoped might get your Adamas as a replacement. I sent off to Cowboy's Friend for the discounted needed rope, and sent my certified check which means we shook hands in the cowboy way. The rope arrived today, and I found that my refusal to wear glasses to hide my age had an unexpected bad side. I missed the small print that said "some assembly required". I now have two bags of hemp fiber and an instruction book in Chinese in how to weave a rope. The only good thing to come out of it is I spent my tobaccy money on the "rope" and this stuff seems to be a pretty good substitute until next payday,or maybe the one after. That'll teach me to deal with those discount places.

Awesome, man! Way to kick some ass! I'm sure you'll love it! And dont worry bout a buzz--it's probably exclusive to mine (dont say anything, or everyone will want one! like the fly in the soup... ;) ) I'll get to the root of the buzz problem. The elite t's a wonderful, great sounding guitar! I love it, and wish you well with yours!

Glad to hear that Brian, I'll keep braiding the rope until you tell us you have it in your hands. I've got about two feet finished so far, so the posse may have to wait a few weeks. Are you getting the pewter one you wanted?

Brian:

Whether you need an acoustic amp is up to your ears. However, keep in mind that an acoustic amp is designed for an acoustic guitar and an electric amp for an electric guitar. This means that the acoustic amp is designed to push different frequencies than an electric amp. Try both. I saw a concert with Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed and Atkins went back and forth between electric and nylon string with the same amp. Both guitars sounded great.
Your call.
