Hey guys, made it back to St Louis and home last night. I was having my doubts as to leaving on Monday as planned but everything turned out OK. The first 3 days were great, beautiful weather and gorgious water. I'm glad we were 1 1/2 hrs south of Cancun for Saturday and Sunday though. The resort we were staying at, the Camilleon Marival, did'nt have the weather channel or a news channel so I did'nt really know where the hurricane was or how close it got. It did get windy on Saturday and Sunday really sucked. I saw the ocean go from glasslike to huge waves crashing the beach on these 2 days. I never found the guitarron I was looking for either. I had planned to use the weekend to go into Playa De Carmon and look but the storm blew that idea along with everything else that was'nt tied down. The drinking practice really came in handy on those 2 days as there was'nt much to do but eat and drink. I did'nt get sick once or have a hangover the whole time so it was a success. We did'nt have a lot of Americians staying there but there were many from Europe. We met 2 different couples from England and enjoyed exchanging culture while enjoying the drinks in the lobby bar. I would go back to this resort and would recommend it to anyone. One thing though, if the sight of young, topless, European women offends you, you better go somewhere else. This however does not offend me .

Wives usually get upset when you look for the 10th time.

And my brother actually seriously said this once to my sister.
She said "Stoo, you look really bummed out"
He said "Yeah, both my girlfriends are seeing other guys"

Now that's a country song if I ever heard one.

Well, it's better than if they were seeing each other, that would be a Rosie episode.

Sounds like a pretty good trip, Jayroc, the guitarrons will be waiting for the next one. You just missed a pretty vicious storm from what I've seen on the news, and now it's headed for Tommy and the eastern Texans. I wish them luck and hope it dies.

glad you missed the worst part of that storm jayroc. it was one of the worst to hit the yucatan in history.

it is funny how things change. in the 70's when we first started traveling here nudity was unheard of in public. mexican women would swim full clothed. now they wear bikinis in the supermarkets here during the summer. "i'm sorry senorita-------you were standing so close to the cantaloupes and i wasn't paying attention to what i was squeezing........."

TROPICAL STORM UPDATE:

As of very early Thursday morning, Ovationist and OFC member Tommy, his cat Mickey, and his three Ovations are just fine, high and dry in his townhouse. Isidore's effects on Baton Rouge are limited to steady, light rainfall, heavier at times, and a few gusty winds. The folks east of Baton Rouge have it much worse. There is much flooding already in many parts of below-sea-level New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana, as well as in many cities along the Gulf Coast. Al, and all you fellows in the Southeast and Northeast, you'll get your share of rain as the storm moves northeastward. Lord knows that many parts of the East need this precipitation. The Weather Channel does an excellent job of storm coverage.

Thursday will be another story as the storm makes landfall, more rain falls, and the winds pick up. Movement is expected to accelerate. I hope so. If the storm stalls, it would be disastrous.

Friends of mine in New Orleans have had to escape to shelters on higher ground. It's a mess down there.

Clearing weather should occur by late Friday, and I'm going to my favorite Mexican restaurant and get that frozen marga-fucker-ita!

Later, dudes!

Got an e-mail announcement from our New Orleans office and they shut down yesterday in anticipation of the impending storm.

Best Wishes to all "down there". Be Safe.
