He said on an earlier discussion that with the falling US Dollar, the folks in Europe could finally afford US Ovations.
That's why English, Danish, and Belgian tourists come here with empty suitcases...
Or No suitcases... You can buy a real nice one for cheap here.
But for our Ovation Mothership buddies, this could be good for them to export their Fine Guitars. |

Location: Chehalis, Washington | I hear you. Of the last few guitars I've bought and sold, at least half of them have left the country. I most recently parted with a nice (quiet, y'all) Taylor limited, that is en route to Germany as we speak. My second highest bidder was from Oz...
It is a very good time for those overseas to grab deals on US O's, as well as any other local gear they can find. I can't wait until the tide flips the other way...if I can find something I have to have from over there... ;) |

Location: Sydney, Australia | I think the Aussie ones may slow down soon (maybe not AJ) because the Aussie dollar has followed the US dollar down the toilet. Not sure why that is happening (should ask my friend the economist) as our economy is in a reasonable state and none of our banks are about to go bust. Maybe we just became the 51st state without noticing it. |

I've been bringing car parts into Canada from the US for years because even when our dollar was 60 cents it was still better than dealing with local suppliers who wanted a big deposit and were on back order for months. Things like Koni shocks I could UPS to my door in a week from the US for the same price as buying them here and never knowing if or when the locals could deliver.
LT4 cam and 1.6 rockers cost 1,700 here from GM; my discount brings it to 1,200 but I can bring it in for 500 US plus shipping and brokerage which adds up to about 750 to my door - the local dealer can't buy it from GM for 750. Plus I can't even get a damn carry permit here till after I'm dead..lol
Same with buying a new car - you can expect to pay 10K more in Canada for the same thing in the US so guitar sales north of 49 probably don't indicate much in the way of an economic trend. |

Location: UK | The up side -- the US has such a great selection of guitars. Old and new, US build quality. Not a lot to do with exchange rates, although it does help, and irrespective of that they are usually cheaper even after import duty and tax. The only way for us, over the pond, to get hold of these is to buy and ship here. |
