The gigs sold out folks so if you don't have your ticket yet - it's too late. Will report back - but it's going to be a killer!

She got a nice pre-Manchester concert review by Metro.co.uk yesterday: http://www.metro.co.uk/metrolife/article.html?Kaki_King,_queen_of_t... Trader Jim, if you will PM your city to me, I'll try to get you on her "guest list" (not always possible) if she plays near you. Finest regards to all-- Dave King Kaki's dad

She's clearly a natural talent. If that's what happens to a kid when you don't let them play your Adamas I say get several and Adamas and don't let your kids anywhere near them. Her technique is staggering, right hand is strong and powerful, left hand holding some really dark and moody chords; add in the 2 handed tapping stuff (done very tastefully) and you've got a killer combination. Then there's her tone. OK so you're thinking the Adamas is doing all the work, then she switches to electric and gets lovely lows and crystal highs with warm wood in between. And then there's the lap steel... OK so if that wasn't enuff she then whips out "the box" (you'll just have to go and see what I mean) and then spends the next 30 minutes building an improvised piece with it adding guitar. The crazy trumpet player is great too. Why drop acid when you can just go and listen to Kaki? Oh and you're thinking she sounds pretty good. It gets better. She is the master of the loop and her control and tasteful use of effects is sublime. At one point I really thought either the air conditioning ventilation shaft was going be shaken loose from it's fixing or my internal tubing was going to be shaken apart. That bass. That's heavy. And if that wasn't good enough for you she has a real connection with the audience. Long live Kaki. WOW. I'm inspired.

"Between cheers for 'Montreal' and 'Jessica'" Let me explain further... 99% of the audience were there to hear Kaki perform. The 1%, 2 young and obviously small cocked blokes who thought that knowing the names of her tunes, shouting them out and generally being arseholes (also talking WAY TOO LOUD when Kati was playing whilst the rest of us were trying to enjoy the music) were handled exceptionally well not only by Kati but also the rest of the audience, this is London. Praps some music lover carved them up afterwards ;) Intially they attempted to hijack Kati's gig by "demanding" tunes they wanted to hear. Initially Kaki carried on regardless playing what she wanted to play (which lets face it was what 99% of us wanted to hear). She reluctantly capitulated and played the tunes those W*N*ERS pestered her for. But they carried on... GOOD GRIEF! They were clearly fans, perhaps had just drunk too much or were just trying to impress their girlfriends. We've all been stupid (at least) once so fair enough.... Anyhow apart from those C*N*S it was a great gig.
