Hi there,

I'm looking for a nylon string Ovation. I found a floor model for $572 (including case). I'm hoping to see if I can find a better deal on a recent model or a new one.

As an amateur player who's looking for his 1st new nylon string Ovation I have 2 questions:

1. As new models come out, new electronics are installed from the factory. Can someone share how does these preamp/EQ units compared, i.e. the older ones installed vs. to the new ones.

2. I noted some Ovation (older) has "stereo" electronic - what does that means, is it really "stereo", and does it work well - is replacement for these "stereo" still available?

Thank you,
Nguyen

New v old pre-amps has been discussed on a number of occassions. Try a search on Pre-amp.

The original stereo pre sent the even numbered strings to one channel and the odd to the other channel. Good fun for about five minutes. The current HexFex pre has a few other options, like strings 6,5 & 4 to one channel & 3,2 & 1 to the other, but in reality it's less useful than it may appear.
