Maybe I'll get lucky the bidding will go so high that I can't afford it. Damn. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=921498863 [ November 11, 2002: Message edited by: moody, p.i. ]

Nice looking guitar, though I thought it would be lighter in color, perhaps it's just a dark photo. Good Luck man, and let us know if you're liquidating any Ovation inventory of your own to get it :D -Rich P.S. I agree with you about your conundrum: is it better to own it, or or the anticipation thereof...

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 15664 Location: SoCal | You know, I'm facing something interesting. When I finally do get my Thunderhead, I will have all the guitars I've ever really lusted after (1537 Elite, 1688 Adamas 12, 1674 Country Artist, 1763 Classical, Preacher Deluxe 12 string, Viper "Deluxe" and Legend 1117). I can't have an unlimited collection (the only way to get rich enough to do that would be to collect my life insurance and I suspect, that it wouldn't do me much good). So the question becomes, what do I look forward to after completing the collection? Anybody else run into this situation? Admittedly, it's a good situation to be in, but strange.

Mortgage your Rottweiler, lease out your iguana. It's necessary to keep the cosmos from collapsing. It's your duty and destiny. NO PRISONERS!! If you're capable of one dream, you can formulate another. Just do it.

I'm sort of in that situation with much fewer guitars, but I've always been a collector of songs to play on them and that is an unending quest that doesn't cost much, but can be frustrating and finger twisting. Start working on that while you still have time, there is a million songs out there, and each guitar will be suitable to some different type of song. You might want a mandolin to extend the song types with fiddle tunes. Bailey

Just when you "think" you have every one you want, you will either discover a new that you didn't know existed, or a better model of one you have, or a "special" one that someone un-earths... Trust me.. I have around 100 JUST SOLIDBODIES and STORMS.. and VERY FEW duplicates... they just keep turning up. Did you know there was an experiment of a set-neck Viper? Neither did I... until a few weeks ago... I had to have it. My collection used to be only "Production" models, but I have recently found some guitars that were actually better than ones they put on the line. Trust me... it will NEVER END!!! And worse yet... you may find another brand of guitars that you want several of also... and it starts all over again.!!!!!

However, to preserve my marriage right now, I have to convince my wife and myself that the THead is that last one. Oddly, I believe that more than she. She just rolls her eyes and says, yeah, sure it's your last one. I think I'm lucky to be married to her.

Joined: December 2001 Posts: 7222 Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | cwk2, Yes a real honest-2-badness set-neck viper. It was a proto-type, or project.. with potted pickups... It's basically a Viper shape.. I don't really have any other history on it. Viper Prototype It has great tone, and those pickups seem to have more range than the Viper or UKII pickups. I will probably put regular Viper knobs on it.. always liked the big Vol and Tone... [ November 13, 2002: Message edited by: Mr. Ovation ]
