I just went thru all my catalogs and couldn't find a model 1139. Anybody else want to take a crack at it?

The Chart in the Reference section list it as a Balladeer Special. Retail price in 81/82 was $395.

My best friend broke my guitar also. He borrowed my Glen Campbell 12-string. The guitar was sitting upright in its case (handle up). He nudged it and it fell over (bowl down). The neck snapped near the nut. He was very very sad, but I told him "no problem, the guitar was covered for life". I told him not to worry and that I would just send the guitar back to Ovation. Well he did worry and to my shock, he tried to glue it back together!!!!

The good news was that when I told Ovation what had happened the agreed to split the cost of a new neck.

The only sad thing is that they removed the truss rod cover with the Glen Campbell signature and replaced it with a plain cover. Oh well, it was still nice for them to cover 1/2 the cost of the neck replacement.

Don't get panic. I saw your post in "For Sale" board, asking the same question.

First of all, what is the damage? Neck broken or just a scratch? What is the original condition of the guitar prior to the damage?

Your friend, if original owner with Ovation's life time warranty, could send the guitar back for repair. You pay for whatever is needed to get it fixed.

Did you tell your friend about it? What did he/she say? Even if the guitar is worth $100 today, it could be worth $1000 to the owner (your friend).

If the guitar was in mint condition with no scratches, dings, dents, cracks, pick marks before you broke it, I guess it's worth around $150, with mint Ovation case. Less if condition is worse than mint ...

This is a very foggy memory but I think the 1139 had a foam neck and a rosewood fingerboard. Not many of those replacements around today but ask the factory.
