Location: Reading, PA | I was at my local Ovation store today playing just about everything in the store. I have an 1868 and noticed quite a different sound from an 1867. I never gave it much thought, but the 1867 had what appeared to me to be a fuller sound. Is this typical?

| That’s a really good question and I suspect you get some really good opinions posted about this but I’ll stick my neck out first. The 1867 and 1868 are the perfect match to make your comparison. I am guessing you playing unplugged. If that’s the case, the short answer is yes but you need to do some more homework. Let someone else play unplugged while your listen about 15 feet away. Then do the same thing plugged in. Lastly, play them both through a set of headphones and tweak the preamp on each until you get sound you wont. Then switch between both with out changing the preamp settings. Then come back and tell us what you think.
