Anyone here had this experience?
I was strumming away unplugged with my mates when suddenly the nut that holds the jack socket at the rear came loose and fell off!
Stopped my strumming, frantically scrambled around to pick up the rolling away nut and washer, and sat down amused at the whole thing. Had to unscrew the plate at the back and re-fix the socket with some tools I have in my Gig bag. Tightened up and continued my strumming.

Attributed all this to how good the vibrations are on my Elite that it could knock a nut loose from it's threads!

Have periodically been checking before gigs to ensure it doesn't fall off again!

Anyone had this happen before?

Try putting some lock-tite on it.

That's happened to me, twice, once while I was still plugged in and another after. And it's a Celebrity I'm playing...

Had to take it to the shop to replace the washer and nut...

While playing?!? Now thats even worse! I guess the fibre backs don't allow the washers to grip well. I guess lock-tite will have to do. Just got some and was gonna squirt a litttle on.

But strangely enough, the same thing happened to my buddies 12 string Yamaha! And it happened while trying to jack up! Thankfully he didn't force it otherwise his whole hand would have gone thru,...Ha Ha!

Careful with loctite, too much could make it damn near permanent & it'll be a pain if the socket needs to come out for servicing. A little clear nail varnish will secure the nut from vibration but will break easily if you need to remove it.

I know what you mean with the lock-tite. I used to have RC cars when I was younger and overdid the thread glue a little too much!..lol
Always learnt from that experience that " a little goes a loooong way!"

Good idea with the nail varnish though,..never thought of that. Good tip!

There are washers available with ridges that act like lock washers I would use them first.

What I usually use for things vibrating loose is a small dab of silicone sealer. The fact that it stays rubbery helps if you need to remove it later.
