does anybody know with 100% certainty what exactly was used for clearcoat (laquer?) on a "1988". it's in the shop and i wanna make sure it's done right. i remember reading about this somewhere on this board but now i can't find it. i was told that if it was laquer the repair would be unnoticable but i'm not sure what they used in '88. also, the crack runs from the end of the fretboard to the bridge. this seems to be an odd place compared to the usual around the bridge to the lower bout. has anybody heard of cracks appearing in this area? thanks...

not lacquer. It's a finish made by Lilly and is a combo urethane and polyesther. Ask Budney for further info.
